About the coffee
This coffee is part of the Sholi cooperative's "Single Mothers' Project" – an initiative that supports young single mothers in Rwanda in creating a stable and independent future through coffee production.
The project includes 80 women aged 18–25 who gain access to coffee plants, income opportunities, and practical training. The goal is to create economic independence, strengthen their position in the local community, and enable them to build a sustainable future for themselves and their families.
By choosing this coffee, you are directly supporting a project focused on quality, equality, and long-term development.
About the producer
Abateraninkunga Ba Sholi Co-operative was founded in 2008 by 30 women and today consists of over 600 producers. The cooperative is known for its high quality and social commitment, and was Fairtrade certified in 2015 – the same year they won the Rwanda Cup of Excellence.
The coffee is grown at altitudes up to 2,000 meters, where the climate and soil create ideal conditions for complex and aromatic arabica.
Processing
The coffee is fully washed, which results in a clean and precise flavor profile:
- Hand-picking of ripe coffee cherries
- Sorting via flotation
- Fermentation for 12–18 hours
- Washing and density sorting
- Drying on raised beds for 14–21 days
