Collection: Turkish Coffee

In 1593, Özdemir Pasha, governor of Yemen during the Ottoman Empire, was introduced to a fascinating drink brewed from roasted coffee beans. He was so captivated by its taste and invigorating properties that he brought it to Constantinople (now Istanbul) and presented it to Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent. The sultan immediately fell in love with this mysterious drink, and coffee quickly became a luxury item at court.
Here the art of preparing Turkish coffee was refined. By boiling finely ground beans in water and serving it in small porcelain cups, Turkish coffee became not just a drink, but a social and cultural experience. Coffee quickly spread to the city's coffee houses, "Kahvehane" , which became gathering places for social debate, literature and commerce.
Turkish coffee marked the beginning of coffee's global journey and is today recognized as part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage , a symbol of its historical and cultural significance.
